September 2007 saw the start of Arrow Vale Allotment, the school, in association with the local police and the local community, were awarded a grant from the WINN project to develop an area on the school grounds as an allotment, to be accessed by older members of the community and Arrow Vale school children.
We have had visits from our older friends in the community and from Matchborough First School, all visits were enjoyed by staff, pupils and visitors and hopefully we will be able to develop these links further for the next school year.
This summer we have already harvested our early potatoes and sold on to staff, we have also sold marigolds, sweet peas and pumpkin plants to staff and pupils, which were all planted and looked after by the students who access the Learning Support Centre. This all helps to pay for the seeds and equipment ready for next year.

Working on the allotment is really good because for the first time I’ve eaten fresh peas, they tasted really nice and I’m glad I’ve had the chance to work on the allotment.
